Tracking down every hidden rune in Minecraft Dungeons is the ultimate endgame goal for players aiming to unlock the secret cow level. Once you complete the main story campaign on Default difficulty, a mysterious church opens at your home camp to track your progress. Understanding where these ancient glyphs are hidden across various stages allows you to complete your collection efficiently.
Unlocking the Camp Church and Understanding Runes
Before you can start collecting runes, you must defeat the Arch-Illager on Default difficulty. After your victory, head southeast in your camp and use the bouncy pads to reach an overgrown path leading to a church. Inside the chapel, interacting with the rear wall reveals nine distinct rune slots that illuminate as you discover each secret.
Each main campaign level contains exactly one hidden button that reveals a secret door leading to a rune room. You do not need to finish the entire mission after picking up a rune, as progress saves immediately upon collection. Returning to camp right after grabbing a glyph saves valuable time during your collection run.
Finding Runes in Early Campaign Missions
In Creeper Woods, proceed to the final objective area where you rescue captured villagers. Search the southwestern corner for a stone structure and trigger the nearby switch to open a subterranean entrance. Inside this hidden chamber, you can collect the level's hidden rune from the floor altar.
In Pumpkin Pastures, journey toward the village area until you spot a long stone wall or rampart. Search near a stack of wooden crates at the end of the stone walkway to find the hidden button. Activating it unlocks a hidden doorway containing the second collectible glyph.
In Soggy Swamp, defeat the Corrupted Cauldron boss at the end of the stage. Look to the right of the exit portal near a large stone pillar to locate a hidden floor switch. Triggering this mechanism opens a stone door revealing the swamp's secret rune.
Locating Hidden Switches in Mid-Game Levels
During the Cacti Canyon mission, navigate to the gated area where you must defeat waves of enemies to retrieve the blue key golem. Look carefully behind the plants to the left of the gate to find a hidden switch. Pressing this switch opens a secret doorway inside the key room.
In Redstone Mines, progress until you reach the second section that tasks you with freeing six trapped villagers. Scan the far western wall near a cluster of redstone crystals to locate a hidden button. Pressing the button reveals a nearby entrance where the rune rests.
For Fiery Forge, enter the main interior section of the fortress near the start of the level. Search near the fallen Redstone Golem on the left side of the pathway to locate a hidden wall lever. Pulling it unlocks an adjacent chamber with the forge's hidden rune.
Securing Late-Game Runes and Unlocking the Secret Level
Inside Desert Temple, play through the stage until you reach the golden key objective room. Search the back wall behind a nearby palm tree or wall structure to locate a hidden switch. Flipping the switch opens a secret passage containing the desert glyph.
Highblock Halls features a rune hidden in the outdoor marketplace area near the main courtyard. Locate an unlit wall torch near the archery range or upper stained glass windows and interact with it. This action reveals a secret doorway leading directly to the rune chamber.
Finally, in Obsidian Pinnacle, proceed indoors until you reach the large castle library. Interact with the bookshelf at the far end of the room to reveal a hidden passage. Collecting all nine runes allows you to press the button in the camp church and unlock the secret Moo level.
